Valentine’s Day is drawing near – and up to now, we’ve posted lots of children’s cards and crafts. But it’s time to take a moment for the grownups, let’s talk about Valentine Love Poems!
One reason I love Valentine’s Day because it makes me stop and think about why I love my husband and how grateful I am for him. Even if you’re no poet, one way you can show your love is by borrowing a romantic line or two from a professional. Here is a short collection of poetic lines and even a few poems/psalms that might inspire you:
- Love doesn’t make the world go around, but it makes the ride worthwhile. ~ Author Unkown
- True love stories never have endings. ~Richard Bach
- I’ve fallen in love many times… always with you. ~Author Unknown
- When love is not madness, it is not love. ~Pedro Calderon de la Barca
- Loving is not just looking at each other, it’s looking in the same direction. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Wind, Sand, and Stars, 1939
I think any of the above lines would look great on a photo canvas as well – you can get an 11×14″ photo canvas from Canvas People right now for only $12.99+ shipping! (Great Valentine’s Gift Idea!)
A few more love poems:
If I could have just one wish,
I would wish to wake up everyday
to the sound of your breath on my neck,
the warmth of your lips on my cheek,
the touch of your fingers on my skin,
and the feel of your heart beating with mine…
Knowing that I could never find that feeling
with anyone other than you.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Year Round Valentine
I love you all through February,
Not just on Valentine’s Day;
I cherish you when flowers of spring
Appear in the midst of May.
I adore you in the summer,
When the air is filled with heat;
Without you in my life each day,
I wouldn’t be complete.
I treasure you in fall,
When leaves are turning gold;
I loved you when you were younger;
I’ll love you when you’re old.
I prize you in the winter,
When colder days are here;
I love you, love you all the time,
Every minute of the year.
So I’ll give to you this Valentine,
But I want to let you know,
It’s not just today, but always,
That I will love you so.
