Since changing the kinds of foods that we eat last year, homemade microwave popcorn has become a favorite snack at our house. I never realized how the amount of additives added to foods that I previously thought were healthy like microwave popcorn. After an afternoon of testing out different ways to make homemade popcorn I came up with a Kettle and Cinnamon Pop Corn recipe that my little ones absolutely loved. There are so many ways you can change up this recipe, but the recipes included below are our favorites. I’d love to hear your ideas! [Read more...]

Veggie Spaghetti Recipe: So Easy and Delicious!

veggie spaghetti

My husband’s office is less than a mile from our house so he usually comes home for lunch everyday. We’ve been really busy in the evenings so sometimes I cook at lunch instead of dinner. A couple of weeks ago, I made this amazing spaghetti chock full of fresh veggies I didn’t want to go bad. My son HATES squash, I mean absolutely HATES it. However, when I made this spaghetti he had no idea he was eating squash. In fact, my kids are so used to veggies I don’t think they noticed all the veggies in their spaghetti. If your kids are picky you may want to chop the veggies finely in a food processor or chopper first. Otherwise, they will never know and you can feel good about feeding them a healthy meal. Instead of homemade sauce, I used ALDI’s organic marinara sauce and organic diced tomatoes. Amazing y’all seriously.  [Read more...]

Protein Packed Snack Idea: AdvoCare Muscle Truffles Recipe

AdvoCare Muscle Truffles on time2saveworkshops.com

My friend Lara passed along this yummy protein packed snack recipe.  Muscle Truffles are a perfect combination of yummy goodness! Full of protein, they keep me full for a long time and satisfy my sweet tooth. When I get hungry in the afternoon, I eat one muscle truffle with a banana or berries for a perfect snack. You could vary different kinds of nuts to best suit your taste, or substitute Wow Butter and omit almonds to make them nut free.

If you are doing the AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge you’ll want to wait until after the cleanse and omit the chocolate chips.

Low Carb Diet Meals: One Dish Chicken & Veggie Recipe

If you are looking for low carb diet meals, here is a super simple one dish chicken and veggie recipe. I had seen a similar recipe circulating online, however it called for red potatoes, green beans and one stick of butter. I thought surely I can make a low carb version, by substituting other veggies in place of the red potatoes and using olive oil instead of a stick of butter. It was so easy to make, and clean up was a breeze. The chicken was very tender and juicy and the veggies were seasoned beautifully. Of course, you could substitute your family’s favorite veggies and tweak the seasoning to best suit your taste. [Read more...]

Homemade Cincinnati Spaghetti in the Slow Cooker

Homemade Cincinnati Spaghetti in the Slow Cooker chock full of fresh veggies on time2saveworkshops.com

My husband is from Ohio, and loves Cincinnati Chili Spaghetti. I usually use a Cincinnati Chili spice packet, but wanted to create a recipe that better fit into our clean eating lifestyle. Plus, it’s so important to me to make sure that we eat lots of veggies. Believe it or not, this spaghetti sauce is chock full of fresh squash, zucchini, onion, carrots, and green peppers. I know, hard to believe. Trust me, it doesn’t make the sauce taste weird at all. If anything it’s so much more hearty and robust. I used whole grain noodles, and served with a yummy salad. It’s also AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge Friendly.

I purchased the organic spaghetti sauce and organic canned diced tomatoes at ALDI at incredible prices! In case you didn’t know, ALDI is now carrying more natural and organic products! If you don’t see them in your store yet, hang on you’ll see more soon!!
