How to Save on Kids Sports

How to save on kids sports1
Wondering how to save on Kids sports?  I’ve got two kids in sports so I understand that sports and extracurricular activities can really take a bite out of your budget! The cost of equipment and snacks alone can be quite costly. Luckily, there are ways to save!

First, to save on sporting equipment, consider purchasing used check out stores like Play it Again Sports, or second hand from Craig’s List or children’s consignment sales. You can typically score equipment as much as 50-75% off this way. Next, if you’ve got more than one child, why not buy non gender specific equipment items? For example, while pink cleats are cute, if you purchase black ones a son can wear them after the daughter out grows, or vice versa. Other shopping hot spots I would suggest are nontraditional stores like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx or online retailers like Ebay.

Do you know if you have a trade in program at your child’s school? If not, shop around for trade- in programs in your area. On the same token, some stores may offer a trade in allowance when you buy new gear, so take good care of your old gear so that it retains some value!

Second, snacks as you mentioned are a big part of extracurricular activities! You can still provide your child with healthy snacks that will satisfy them without breaking the bank. First, don’t wait until the last minute. To save the most, keep your eyes open for sales on your favorite snacks and sports drinks/bottled water.  Pair these sales with a coupon and stock up for the season.  You could cut your expense by as much as 50% (or more) this way!

Of course with all of these activities you are already quite busy. If you don’t have time to look for sales and shop with coupons, try to buy in bulk at national warehouse stores like Costco or Sam’s. You can also look at discount stores like Odd Lots and Big Lots as they have a smaller selection but often offer big discounts on dry snacks and bottled drinks. Last but not least if there is an Aldi grocery store in your area, they have great prices. They don’t accept coupons, but discounts are significant! Here you can find bottled drinks, dried fruit, nuts, and other power packing snacks at a bargain.
