Grocery Store Sales Cycle: What to Stock Up on in March

Grocery Store Sale CYcles

Savvy shoppers know that specific months are known for running specific sales. March is no different, just waiting for you with a plethora of hot deals. The trick is in knowing what items will be on sale and planning ahead of time to take advantage of those sales. Here are a few examples of items that will be hitting rock bottom sale prices this month. Tracking seasonal grocery store sales cycles pays off.

Will you be in the market for electronics such as digital cameras? By March many electronics are marked down since the holiday rush is over. As far as clothing goes, March is an ideal time to purchase cooler weather gear, such as winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, snowsuits, etc.  You’ll also see great clearance sales on winter clothes like long sleeved shirts, sweaters, jeans, boots etc. to make room for all the new Spring lines.

Food items also experience lower prices during the month of March, so it is wise to take advantage of these sales and stock up! March is officially Frozen Foods Month, so now is the time to purchase frozen dinners, frozen fruit, frozen veggies, frozen breakfast items, frozen snacks, frozen pizza, and more. Frozen diet meals can often be expensive, and these will be on sale as well!

Don’t forget that some produce is considered seasonal during the month of March and therefore will be offered at lower prices. Depending on your climate, in season items include artichoke, asparagus, avocado, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, collards, kale, lemon, lime, orange, peas, radish, rhubarb, spinach, strawberries, tangerine, lettuce, pineapple, and mango. Stock up on these items, and if you can’t eat them all, consider canning or freezing what you can

Of course Spring brings Spring cleaning and discounted cleaning supplies! Items include spray cleaners, scrubs, tools, and everyday items to get your home sparkling.  Keep in mind, although cleaning supplies are heavily discounted in March, they generally go on sale every 10-12 weeks.  By purchasing enough to last until they go on sale again, you’ll save a significant chunk of money throughout the year!

You can’t think of March without thinking of St Patrick’s Day! Look for sales on St. Patrick’s Day staples such as corned beef, potatoes, rye bread, pickles, and more. Corned Beef is typically at the lowest it will be all year, so purchase extra and freeze if it happens to be a family favorite.

As you can see, with a keen eye and some planning you too can take advantage of all of the savings March has to offer!
