DIY Face & Lip Scrub

Finally, Spring is in the air!  The trees are beginning to bud and it’s time to scrub away wintertime skin with this DIY Face & Lip Scrub!  I rarely splurge on body scrubs, because this is SO easy, works so well and the ingredients are sitting in my kitchen cabinet.

This DIY Face & Lip Scrub is my go-to, twice a month exfoliator and it whisks away those annoying flakes and dull patches.  Just pat your face dry to reveal glowy super-soft skin after using this scrub.  And I’m not the only one who notices – my husband always comes home from work on those days and says something like “You sure look pretty today!” :)

DIY Face & Lip Scrub Recipe:

  1. Mix 1/3 Cup White Sugar + 1 Tsp Olive Oil
  2. Splash warm water on your face and neck, and then scoop a little sugar scrub from your bowl.
  3. Using gentle circular motions, rub your face, throat and anywhere you have dry flaky skin.  The sugar will get rid of the old skin and the olive oil will make the new skin glowy and moisturized.
  4. Splash face with warm water and pat dry.

This DIY face & lip scrub can also be used as a body scrub.  But a fair warning, it does tend to make your hands a little raw after using it on your whole body – so you may want to invest in a set of these exfoliating gloves when it’s time to get down to that SERIOUS scrubbing.  You know, like when I’m trying to make my knees resemble normal knees again, instead of Galapagos Tortoise knees.

You can make a more luxurious spa body scrub by adding a few more kitchen ingredients to the mix.  Here’s a nice basic recipe:

Spa Sugar Scrub:

  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon of Honey
  • A drizzle of olive oil
  • 1/8 Tsp Lemon Juice

This recipe not only leaves your skin soft (from the honey and oil) but smells great too!
