Hey everyone! I hope that your Christmas went well! Also Happy New Year!!!

Recently I made a life change by moving into my own apartment! This is a very exciting and potentially scary process. However, I am really excited to start a new chapter in my life. This will also be a chance to use MANY coupons.

So, the first thing I needed to buy for my apartment was toothpaste and laundry detergent. I found toothpaste for $3.99 at Rite-Aid and recieved $3.99 in Rite-Aid +UP Rewards. I was so excited to find this deal that I bought ten tubes of toothpaste! Then, I used my Rite-Aid Rewards to buy laundry detergent that I had coupons for. I don’t really have anything for my apartment yet. So, if anyone knows of any good deals on anything you think might help me, I would really appreciate your comment. Merry Christmas!!!!!

Thank you once again for all of your comments. They are really helping to find the best strategy for shopping.

However, I wanted to do this blog a little differently. I have been talking to a lot of people and asking them if they are excited for Christmas. Most of the time the answer I got was that they weren’t really excited for Christmas.  They are stressed about all of the presents they need to buy and they want to get everyone the perfect present.  So, I have decided to remind everyone what the true reason for the season is.

It is is about the birth of the one who saved us all from eternal damnation. God loves us so much that He sent his only son to die for our sins. I know I am not worthy for this present God gave to me.  So, I am going to celebrate the best gift I could have ever received on Christmas. The birth of my Savior.  Praise be to God!  Merry Christmas, and I wish you and your families the very best Christmas!  Luke 2:1-14

Here’s a different take on couponing that you don’t hear about often!

Hey it’s Elizabeth again…. I just wanted to start out again by saying thank you so much for your comments. They really helped!!!!

This time I looked at this website before making a list.  That helped so much!!!!!! I felt like they had made a cheat sheet for me!  After writing my list of what I was going to buy, I gathered all of my coupons and put them in a pencil pouch holder. I arrived at Bi-Lo and I felt a little overwhelmed. However, I figured out that if I stick to my list I don’t feel as overwhelmed.

I got all of my items and went to the check out line. I was very excited to see all of my hard work put into action. Then she handed me the receipt. The orginal price was $118.16 and the price that I paid was $48.33!!!!!!!!!!!!   I was so excited that I did a dance in the middle of Bi-Lo.  Stay tuned for next week savings.

I just wanted to start out by saying thank you to everyone who left a comment. I really appreciated the kind words!

Now, I would like to tell you a little about my very first experience using coupons. I was looking through all of my ads and I found an ad for Dawn dish detergent, and it was FREE.  I was so excited that I decided to leave the house at 9 p.m. to go and pick up my free detergent.  I arrived at CVS very excited to have found my first deal.  When I went in to pick my free detergent I found many other deals with my coupons. I checked out and decided to look at the Walgreens ad.  That’s when I realized that some of the items I picked up were cheaper there.  I felt SO SAD!

I went home and told my parents I wasted their money. They gave me a hug, and told me that I still saved a good bit of money, and I will save even more with experience. I am not going to give up, and I am going to do better next time! Stay tuned for next week, and I will fill you in on my progress in the coupon world.
