Sharpie Easter Eggs | Easy & Mess-Free!

Sharpie Easter Eggs

If your family’s getting tired of the same old Easter dye kits, try using Sharpies for fun new way to decorate this year’s eggs!

Sharpie Easter Eggs can be as artsy – or a simple – as you want.  It’s something my older teens would enjoy, since they love to draw more intricate designs.  But so easy that my 8 year old would have fun too.  While doing a trial run, I traced a chevron pattern with a pencil and went over it with black sharpie.  My silver oil-based paint sharpie was great for shiny accent dots.

Another way to approach this project is to dye the eggs first and then use Sharpie as an added layer of personalization :)

Carrot Cake Blondies Recipe

Carrot Cake Blondies Recipe

Today we finally (FINALLY) got a real, honest-to-goodness snow day, and the kids have been in and out all morning playing.   I wanted to make a special treat to surprise them after lunch, and that box of carrot cake in the pantry was calling my name… where there’s a cake mix, there’s a batch of blondies not far away!
.
Here’s an uncommonly easy recipe for Carrot Cake Blondies that will take you 10 minutes of prep time and half an hour in the oven.  So you’ve got about 40 minutes until you can stuff these in your face with a glass of milk.
.
carrot-cake-blondie-ingredients
You’ll need a boxed carrot cake mix, any kind should do, and a couple eggs and butter.  If you have that, you’re ready to roll on basic blondies.
.
Now, I added in a White Chocolate Chips to balance out the word carrot – but my scant 1/2 cup wasn’t really enough.  Go with a full cup if you know what’s good for you.   Not done tampering, I also added a couple tablespoons of applesauce to my recipe to see if they would turn out a bit more moist – but I found that it didn’t affect the finished product in a noticeable way.  Still – if you have applesauce to hand, might as well go ahead and toss in a little.  That way you can say that this counts as eating your vegetables AND fruits. ;)
.
Put the eggs, melted butter, applesauce and cake mix in a bowl and  blend it all together with a hand mixer until it’s a thick pasty consistency.  Then hand-stir in the white chocolate chips.

And here’s what it looks like when you sit down with a glass of milk and call all the kids in for a yummy treat, just because you are the best mom ever.

These went over so well, I’m thinking I’ll make them for Easter as well, except I’ll probably put cute little icing carrots on top.  :)  Let us know how they turn out for you!
