Corrie Ceraolo & Kelli Hodge would like to invite any local couponers to a Coupon Swap! It’s happening from 1-4 pm on Saturday, 6/26 at Middle Valley Church of Christ. There will be light refreshments, so they need an approximate head count from any who plan to attend!(Just leave a comment here) Besides any unwanted coupons you may have, please bring any expired coupons as well. The girls will be sending them off to the military families who can still use them!
Middle Valley Church of Christ is located at 836 Thrasher Pike, Hixson, TN 37343-1747. They will be having the swap from 1- 4 on that Saturday.
Thanks Corrie & Kelly for setting this up – and I encourage all of you to try and get local swaps set up in your neck of the woods! You can get the conversation started on our Facebook Page (There’s already a “Discussion” devoted to this) – and if you let me know your date & time, I’ll announce it right here on the website!
A friend of mine made a comment today that made me think about one of the funnest parts of couponing: Sharing With Others. To paraphrase, she said, “What’s wonderful is the happy look you get to see on people’s faces, when you stop them & hand them a $1.50 coupon ….You just cannot replace that joy.” And it’s true!
It’s so fun fluttering through the store leaving a paper-trail of coupons next to items – I’ve been the benefit of other’ extra coupons several times, so I like to pay it forward when I have extras! There are all kinds of coupon butterflies: Some tape their extras to the products, some leave stacks on the shelf for others, some send their expired coupons to the military families.
And then there are some - like me – who have “Full-Price-Radar”. It’s a switch that I can’t turn off. I see someone putting something in their cart, I remember there’s a coupon for that in my binder, and Honey – that’s when I get scary. I follow that poor person around Bi-Lo until I find that coupon and hand it over to them. Sometimes they’re happy, but most of the time, they just seem a little afraid.
The same thing, but worse, happens in the checkout line. Waiting in line is just an invitation to appraise the carts of your neighbors – am I right!? Ninety-percent of the time I have a little stack ready for them by the time they pull up to the register.
Is this normal? Are you appalled at the sight of your friends and total strangers paying full-price for things? Let’s all ‘fess up to the crazy lengths we go to to help OTHER people save a buck!!
Some people said it couldn’t be done – 5,000 Facebook Fans by this weekend??!! Impossible! But you, our wonderful, fabulous, awesome readers, have helped us to almost reach that goal! (I think we can, I think we can, I think we can…..)
If you haven’t suggested us to your friends on Facebook yet – please (Pretty please with cherries on top!) do so and get in the running for a lots of newspaper inserts! It’s easy, here’s how:
Because our readers are spread out a bit, it would be helpful for you to list them in the following format:
Readers can then Mapquest your address if they’re unsure – and head over to check out your wares! Oh, I almost forgot, I (Jamie) am an avid yard-saler myself, so you’ll probably see me show up if you’re nearby! Here’s a Crash Course in “Yard Sailing” that I wrote awhile back- take a look if you’re interested!
