Video: 3 Steps to Save with Meat Mardowns!

We get lots of questions on how to save money on meat. While we usually just have to wait for a nice sale – there are a few more ways to save on meat.  In this short video, join us as we hit the Meat Markdown jackpot – and go over a few tips to save even more!

      1. Stores start marking down meat as it nears it’s expiration date, in order to sell it quickly.  Scan the meat cases for “$$$ Off” stickers to find these deals.  If you can find “$$$ Off” stickers on an already low sale price – even better!
      2. Since a meat markdown sticker is a discount from the store, you can still stack a manufacturer coupon with it for even more savings.
      3. Even though it may be on or near the expiration date – if you’ve found a great deal you should still stock up. Buy it and either cook or freeze it right away.  If buying raw meat – cook it and season it, the portion into freezer bags for easy taco nights, pasta nights, etc….  Lunchmeats will freeze pretty well in a freezer bag for later use.

Bi-Lo: FREE Sierra Mist 20 oz!

I found a tearpad in CVS last week for $.55/1 Sierra Mist 20 oz bottles.  That’s a pretty good coupon, but did I use it at CVS that day?  No WAY.
If you shop Bi-Lo often, you’ll remember that Bi-Lo doubles up to $.60 coupons.  So I saved it for a better deal …..

When I finally made it to Bi-Lo, I found Sierra Mists 20 oz on sale for $.99.   Since  my $.55/1 coupon doubled – I got a couple FREE.

If you don’t find this tearpad, head over to Ebay where you can purchase these same coupons in groups of 10 or 20.  I just saw an envelope of 20 for $2.99 shipped!

IMPORTANT: Remember that Bi-Lo will only double *10* “like” coupons per transaction – so if you used 11 of the same coupons at a time, the last one wouldn’t double

Time2Give: Cheap Donation Items

Posted by Time2Give TeamMember, Crishelle!

With all the gifting and giving we’ve done in the last few weeks, don’t forget to give your most precious commodity to the most important receivers on your list: the gift of time to your very own family! Sometimes we have a tendancy in the Christmas season to remember all the gifts on the list – and maybe all the charities, too – but we forget about the things we may not check off the list. Take a drive to gaze at the beautiful glow of Christmas lights in the evening, bake with your kids, watch your favorite movie, or just be silly. Whatever it is you do this holiday season, be sure to put that checklist away a little and have some fun! Sometimes the most charitable gift you can give is a smile….

The Saturday Savings Report: *New* Manly Edition!

I’d like to introduce Jay. He’s a man. He coupons. And he and his buddies call themselves The Coupon Craftsmen.

They’re going to be contributing once in awhile here on Time2Save to give our menfolk something manly to read. Jay also co-owns the Chattanooga Daily Deals site “New Crazy Deals” – where you can get awesome deals on local eateries, shops and more!

And now I hand this Saturday segment over to him…..

Hey there, I’m Jay, your Coupon Craftsman. It’s time we put a little testosterone in this place and show you that the man of the house can coupon along with the best of them.

I took a quick unplanned trip to Bi-Lo this morning while my wife was sleeping. My best deal turned out to be these Green Giant green beans and corn. BOGO at Bi-Lo, coupled with my $0.50/2 coupon, I got these for $0.17 each. I bought 20 cans, but my wife put them away before I could get the picture of the vegetable pyramid I wanted to build.

Your Turn!

Are you a frugal blogger?  If so come link-up here every Saturday with your favorite savings story of the week!

How to participate in the Saturday Savings Report:

  1. Write a short blog post about your Savings Adventure.
  2. Leave a direct link to your savings post.  Not a blogger?  Leave a comment in the comment section!
  3. Make sure to include specific info like which store you shopped – so other readers can try out your brilliant plan.
