Kasey here, over the past couple of months I’ve told y’all about how my husband and have made decisions to change our health for the better. Back in March, we started AdvoCare products and the 24-Day Challenge. My husband wanted to lose weight, and I just wanted to feel better. I was tired all the time and had zero energy. With the holidays quickly approaching, now is the time to make changes towards a healthy lifestyle and lose weight and/or gain more energy before the hustle and bustle of the holidays begins.
Kasey here, it’s officially been a little over three months since we finished our AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge. Many people are curious about what happens after the challenge ends. Do you gain back the weight you lost? Continue eating the same way? My husband finished his 24-Day challenge losing 11.6 lbs and 8 inches. Since that time we have continued to follow the eating guidelines by cutting most processed foods out of our diet. We do allow for sweets on special occasions (opposed to every day before we started the challenge). We are much more aware of how the food that we put in our mouth affects our bodies and how we feel. One of the results I’m most proud of is stopping our diet coke addiction. When I say addiction, I’m not kidding! We both used to drink up to 10 a day! We don’t drink it AT ALL anymore! We both drink water now. Huge change y’all. Huge! [Read more...]

Recently, I told you about my husband and I embarking on the AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge. Never would I have guessed that 24 days would make such a difference in our lives. I wanted to update you on the final results. We not only survived our AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge but actually enjoyed the change. In the beginning we were counting down the days until it was over so we could eat our “favorite” foods again. It didn’t take long for our mindset to change. Before we knew it, instead of counting down the days until our 24 days was over, we decided that we wanted to continue through day 25 and beyond. Going without diet coke, coffee, sugar, and processed foods for 24 days was literally life changing for us. [Read more...]
Although I love grilled chicken salads on day 2 of our 24 day healthy eating challenge I wanted a hot lunch. Since we had loaded up on fresh fruits and veggies, Stir-Fry Chicken and Veggies sounded delicious. I’m one of those cooks who makes up recipes in my head or combines bits and pieces of recipes I find online to come up with my very own concoction. This recipe is no exception, totally made it up in my head. Thankfully, my recipes usually turn out good otherwise my guinea pig family might rebel. I’ve been cooking since I was knee high to a grass hopper as we say in the south. [Read more...]

Our Decision to change our eating habits and start the 24-Day AdvoCare Challenge
We’ve eaten terribly unhealthy lately. I don’t know when it happened exactly. I think partly due to convenience and our schedules. Probably a result of a series of compromises over a long period of time. Maybe even purchasing items that I wouldn’t normally because they were free or cheap. Nonetheless, no matter how we got here we made a decision that it was time for a change. At the same time, aknowleding that we needed to make a change and actually doing something about it are two very different things. I kept telling myself that next week would be the week we would start eating healthier. Lets get through Christmas first, then Valentine’s Day, then a weekend getaway…….I realized unless we made a commitment it wasn’t going to happen. [Read more...]
Recently, I’ve seen all kinds of yummy looking recipes all over facebook. Since many are shared, and not linked to the original source I am a little leary of trying the recipe. Anyone can type up a recipe, and find an image that appears to go with it. So, when a recipe gets my attention I prefer to test it out in my kitchen. Of course I am not a great recipe follower, so I tend to change up the ingredients a bit to suit my family’s taste. We loved this recipe, although it was a little spicy. I made homemade Mexican Brown rice to serve with the Baked Chicken Fajitas to complete the meal. If you are looking for low carb chicken recipes, I would suggest serving the chicken fajitas in lettuce wraps or whole grain tortillas. Since we completed our AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge, we are still following the principles of the eating plan so this recipe worked perfectly. My husband and I both feel so much better and he has lost 43lbs (see our story here).
