Rebecca, my daughter is also 7 and I think that you have given me a fabulous idea for a birthday gift for her. My daugter loves to read – she reads really fast and it would be really useful to have access to new books anytime if she had a kindle without us having to go to the library or purchase them. Also – Amazon has a TON of free Kindle Downloads of childrens classic books. Then, if I already wasn’t convinced the fact that we wouldn’t have books in the kitchen, in the car, on the steps, in her bedroom, in the family room, etc.

Anybody have an opinion on Kindles for kids? I’ve thought about buying one of these for my daughter for her b-day…she wants an ipod, but she’s only 7 and I’m a teacher who wants her to be doing something USEFUL!!! WOuld love opinions on this one…this looks like a great deal.
