Once the holidays are over is seems like life slows down a bit as we try to get back in our normal routine. It’s a great time to go through your monthly bills and find ways to cut costs and save money! Here are 3 ways to save money at home without clipping coupons.
- One of the best places to start cutting costs is your cable bill. It’s quick, it’s easy and one phone call is almost guaranteed to help you save money without reducing your service. Cable companies are highly competitive and right about now you are probably getting flyers in your mailbox announcing great deals and lower prices. Call your current provider; tell them you are considering switching to a better offer and see if they can match the deal. If so, stay. If not, change. Your goal is to cut your monthly bill regardless of the provider.
- When is the last time you really sat down and looked at your cell phone bill? Are you on the right plan? Are you using all your minutes? Does your plan fit your needs? Sometimes it does. If not, talk to your provider and see what else is available. You may find a new option that still gives you everything you need, at a better price. Be sure to check and see if the provider offers corporate discounts for the company that you or your spouse works for. This could be a great way to save 15% to 25% just by showing your work ID or a pay stub. If you have fulfilled the obligations of your contract, shop around to see what the competition has to offer.
Home Phone & Internet
- Do you really need a home phone? Some people do, but the number of households that fall into that category is dwindling daily. As cell phones take over more and more of our lives, we simply do not have the need for a landline that we once did. So why not drop it? If you don’t use it, go ahead and make the cell phone switch. Also, look into bundling your internet with your cable bill. This can earn you a discount from both services and lower your monthly bills.
The truth is that savings are all around us. But you have to know where to look and be willing to change. It is absolutely possible to lower your monthly bills and keep the cash in the bank by implementing these ways to save money at home.
