It’s so easy to get caught up in the spirit of the Christmas season, especially when you have kids.  Christmas parades, homemade ornaments, decorating cookies………all geared towards making memories with our little ones.  Nothing wrong with doing so, in fact creating family memories and traditions often make children feel more secure.  However, if everything we do this Christmas season is centered around our children, then we’ve left a very important person out of the picture.  Our spouse.  He might not say anything, in reality, he may be just as focused on the kids himself.

Time + Unintentionality = Ordinary Marriage

I just saw the words the words above on facebook, a friend of mine is reviewing the book Beyond Ordinary: When a Good Marriage Just Isn’t Good Enough  (to be released 1/2013) and had underlined those words in the book, snapped a picture and uploaded to facebook.  Ouch……they hit me right between the eyes.  Not on purpose, in fact I didn’t even realize it, but I have just gotten busy and haven’t been intentional to plan special time with my hubby recently.  Life has been a world wind and I haven’t stopped.  Once I read those words, I decided that tonight’s focus of Christmas fun would be about loving our spouse.

If you aren’t already doing so, I hope that you join us this Christmas Season as we create memories and traditions centered around loving our spouse. This is not the time to wait on him girls, be intentional, make the first move, love on your spouse in front of your children, give your kids the greatest gift this Christmas let them see how much you love your spouse.

I love this free printable from Somewhatsimple.com.  What a great way to show our spouse that they are not only important to us today, but that we want to be intentional the rest of the year.  I used to sit back and wait (sometimes get a little hurt if I’m being honest here) for my husband to plan date night.  I’ve found that by taking the initiative to make sure that we make time for each other, we both end up having a wonderful time, and he becomes more motivated to plan date nights in the future.  I’ve included a several other ideas below I found on Pinterest.

We’d love to hear from you!   Please share your ideas with us.
